Argyle Street Grill, Caledonia

One of my favourite restaurants in Haldimand County is the Argyle Street Grill in Caledonia.

A favourite in Caledonia, the “Argyle” as it is referred to by many, is always busy and was featured on the television show, You Gotta Eat Here.  The Argyle is always busy at both lunch and dinner so reservations are recommended, especially the busiest day of the week which is Tuesday’s half price chicken wing day.

The most popular items on the menu are the weekend Prime Rib specials, Fish and Chips (the Lake Erie Perch is absolutely delicious) and the Portobello Chicken.  I have had pretty much everything on the menu and my personal favourites are the Asiago Chicken Linguine and their special for this week, the Jambalaya Mac and Cheese.  Today I chose the Chicken Club Trio which came with the most delicious Roasted Red Pepper Soup.

The Argyle Street Grill always features local items in their menu, such as bread from a local bakery in Hagersville, Jensen Cheese in their marble cheese planks and fresh Lake Erie Perch just to name a few.

The Argyle Street Grill is definitely my favourite restaurant in Caledonia, warm and inviting on the inside with great service.  If you go there in the summer, you have to sit on the patio, my favourite place to spend summer evenings relaxing with friends.

I haven’t been there, but I have heard their “angry mussels” are nice as well. Have you tried them?

I haven’t tried them but on Thursday’s in the summer they have all you can eat mussels on the patio. I go with my friends who love the mussels. I hear they are delicious.

I love that your blog is reviewing places so close to my hometown! I’ll have to check them out. Have you been to Blue Elephant in Simcoe?

Now I want to go there in summer, sit on the patio and try some of their dishes. Would be a great way to learn a bit about Caledonia through the taste of local food.
